What is the shelf life of my wheat?

The shelf life of our wheat is influenced by many different factors including heat, humidity, insects, and rodents. The ideal storage conditions for our wheat is at 75 degrees Fahrenheit or cooler, in a dry area away from direct sunlight. Our 10lb and 25lb bags of wheat come packaged in food grade Mylar bags which include oxygen absorbers to prevent the oils in the wheat from reacting with the air. Once packed, these bags are heat sealed against the elements and are ready for storage. Our larger 33lb buckets are packaged in the same fashion as our smaller bags, with the added protection of being sealed in food grade pails in addition to being heat sealed in Mylar bags. Both the bags and the buckets offer excellent protection from insects and rodents, as well as changes in storage conditions. Wheat has been known to store for over thirty years under the proper conditions and our wheat is no exception. Ideally the wheat will be stored in a cool, dry place and will allow for an indefinite shelf life while sealed.
